NYCya

I have realized this blog has become about my adventures. Anna the Airstream is sometimes involved. Not always. Hope you do not mind.

MegaBus, Whitemarsh Maryland to NYC; $32 with the choice, upper level, front window seating. Electrical outlet and super slow WiFi with every seat. 3 hours 1 minute. How can you beat that?

No hassles of traffic or parking. We were dropped off in Midtown.

Our hotel was on Canal, right on the edge of Chinatown, across the street from Canal Rubber.

Super shout out to the Sheraton Tribeca. The people working there treated us very well. Super clean hotel. Great location. A very accommodating staff. Rewards points made for a free stay. At check in, I smiled nice, leaned in, and pretended I was bit of a hick. I said " I hate to be impolite, but we have never been to the big city. I kind of promised my wife a room with a great view. Can you help me not be a liar? Please?" The receptionist was so kind and made that happen by giving us a 17th floor room.

We headed over to the East Side for what my buddy Dale would call "Jew Food."Katz Deli serves Jew Food.

The place is a flurry of activity. I was looking for some stars. I didn't recognize any. I wonder if any recognized me.

We had matzo ball soup...

and half of a pastrami. $18. Kind of steep. Good, but not $18 good. Scratch that one off the list.

We rode the trains a lot. A multi day pass paid off for sure.

By the third day we actually knew what we were doing.

We met friends in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is a happening place. It is more happening than Manhattan these days.

We went to some hall. There was a Balkans Ball going on. It was in a big ball room. The Klezmer music was very loud. It was also very hypnotic.

There were a lot of people. They were spinning and spinning below. I found out I suffer from enochlopobia. All those people had me spinning.

The next day it was very cold and rainy. What do you do on a day like this in NYC? Put on the rain gear and head out.

Maybe dodge the rain by going to a museum.

They say Deep Throat was the movie that made porn mainstream.

If you cannot get a real woman you can get a life like rubber one. I wonder if Canal Rubber sell these dolls.

That Laurel and Hardy were some serious rascals.

We walked in the rain and did a lot of window shopping.

Who is looking at who?

We eventually ended up at my favorite bar in Chelsea. The best margaritas! They do fun stuff with tater tots too.

The third morning it was cold and windy but it was sunny. We went for a walk. Our walk started at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge.

We spied Lady Liberty on our walk.

It is a very romantic walk. Many people were holding hands too.

On this walk, I tended to be looking up a lot.

I looked up so much my neck hurt.

I might have tripped once or twice.

Our half way point for the walk was somewhere around 66th street.

We took in a lot very cool sights along the way.

I keep coming back to that pastrami sandwhich which rated low with you.

Although one item on my bucket list is to eat a way-honking-big-pastrami-sandwhich-in-NYC-because-they-know-how-to-do-it, I thought the beef in your image was sliced thicker than I think I would enjoy.

What did you not like about the meal?

The Pastrami was great. The corned beef was nothing special. I guess the disappointment came in the price. $18 for two slices of rye and a handful of meat is all it was. Going to Katz Deli was a fun experience but not worth a second visit for me.
